The Chicken Gold Camp & Outpost offers a relaxing retreat in the historic mining community of Chicken. Located away from the highway but within walking distance of the area?s attractions (active goldmine, gold dredge tour, ghost town, saloon, hiking, river recreation, etc).
The park amenities include tables and fire rings, water, dump station, exceptionally clean restrooms, showers, room and cabin rentals, a separate group area with pavilion and outdoor grill, and WiFi internet/email throughout the park.
The "Gold Camp" has a café serving homemade entries, an espresso/smoothie bar and a gift shop with local art & crafts. Kayak rentals for use on the Fortymile River are available.
From their adjoining gold mine, the hosts provide pay dirt for gold panning, offer recreational mining on their claims and create unique Alaskan gold nugget jewelry and gifts. Tours of Pedro Dredge, a National Historic Site, are also available daily.
66 miles NE on the Taylor Highway from Mile 1301 of the Alaska Highway (Tetlin Junction) or 108 miles West from Dawson City, Yukon on the Top of the World Hwy to Chicken, then ¼ mile south on Airport Rd, entrance on left (use the Chicken Loop Rd).
